About Mikey
I grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and my father ran a trucking company. But in his heart, he was an artist who loved to work with his hands and spent his down time building model airplanes out of balsa wood and paper. My sister was an art school educated printmaker and painter, my younger brother is an entertainment artist who works as an actor, writer and director and I am a painter. My love of the visual world, from paintings to engravings, ceramics from the 18th century to modern ceramists, pulled me from Ohio, to Massachusetts to England. As an undergraduate I created my own degree where I took art history classes as well as foundations of ceramics, sculpture, glass blowing, engraving, architecture and interior design. Once I had my foundation, I spent a year in London at Christie, Manson and Woods decorative arts program and also finished an undergraduate degree in anthropology. In-between my years at college, I worked at various historical societies cataloging their collections. (I have used many different databases and found a few that are my favorites. For artists my suggestion is Artwork Archive; for historical societies and small museums my suggestion is Collective Access.) Today, I am an artist and cataloger. I love the combination of working on cataloging artists’ works and helping them keep an inventory of their finished works, clients and upcoming projects as well as spending as much time as possible creating my own artwork.
